Cloud, cloud, cloud.

So much is spoken nowadays about cloud, private, public , hybrid? All of them are more affordable and great to manage. The future is SDN which changes the services but infrastructure will be always needed. Of course cloud cannot be fully “ cloud “ for those ones outside IT world a physical devices will be always needed, software will not be “ on the air “ , a difference is where the hardware will be located and the badge of the employee who manages it.

Leaders such as Amazon are here, OpenStack might be the future but still “ looking for his place under the Sun” , Google is moving their technologies thinking about the end customers and not purely about the own projects , they have simple framework and leading advanced machine learning which is great. Looks like the market is in a direction to forget one day about private cloud.

Private cloud, if it does not exist where we could find the hybrid? The point is that they are necessary to build the hybrid cloud, a nice solution but needs scalability and a big vendor that keeps commitment to a good automation and today we have VMware, OpenStack and Microsoft. The last one has a strategy defined for private model and it is “curious “. One is the use of Azure for Lenovo , HP and Dell prepared with at least 12 cores ( physical ) plus almost 100GB RAM and if possible 16 cores plus 128GB RAM, it looks like more scale up architecture and might be in competition with other Microsoft low cost solution with full control inside a SaaS package: the Operations Management Suite.

So the type of cloud depends on what you will use. Private brings more customization and oversight of the stack for all, hardware, service, etc. In summary favorable to environments which needs high compliance standard and sensitive applications such as healthcare and financial sector. The differences in private and public cloud is not only you share or multi-tenant or location. A lot of companies move to host private version to be able to launch services real quick and keep access to latest technologies with a good budget. So private cloud only will have a future? Sure at least for some time as the organizations of this world will not just forget about the mass of hardware they have ready to be used and migrate everything automatic to the cloud. The idea is to keep them as much as possible and giving more efficiency, flexibility. So that would be a “cloud style” . New applications arriving which shake the market will be more to home users in public clouds shared or not. After all homework is done inside the companies and nothing else to do and keep the investment already done , so of course next step would move to private cloud . The last doubt will remain is “ Where in the planet the boxes containing the applications will be located ?”

The reality is now.
