Workaround or a new trend to survive?

Things are changing all the time, this is not new but something happening in the east side of the planet is a little bit curious . Is that a workaround or just a real trend for survival ?

The point about that is Didi Chuxing in China is merging with UBER China , as most fusions , the fact is they together would create less competition and even maybe able to raise prices and profit . Anyhow on the other side there are at lesast two fusions happening in the steel industry .
Some giants in China such as WISCO participate in such operations also to have lower competition . What is the inside ? Of course loss of taxes and even lay offs to certain regions might occur, so some regions do not approve the merge as they think they will not be in advantage anymore. In the end merge occurs , and layoffs also , specially in this steel industry bringing a new workforce available which you can think " what they are going to do? " . The answer is ready: more IT business happening instead of steel specially as the new " Uber China" already announced that they have about 1 million new drivers from those layoffs. Not sure the next step for next 12 months would be the same starting with coal miners. So , more drivers , more passengers , more people using the app. Which creates more profit to the new merged company and at the same time would be the " new employeer " for the workforce without a job from heavy industries. Is that the future ? Not sure , we have to wait and see the next steps. Also if this model would be shared around the world.
