BYOD is here to stay for sure but...

We have two sides here, one side a company does not want to buy and handle so much devices and in the other hand employees like their devices. Employees want privacy but at the same time , companies consider security in the first place. Anyway BYOD fact is moving to the future yet and the idea keep changing since last years.

We have several layers of security such as: data encryption password management; protected Web browsing; device wipe capabilities; application controls; malicious app scanning; device location capability; and also container/sandboxing of corporate applications. Most are still relevant but some might be not. In a near past the recipe was quick : to write very well the BYOD policy , to deploy mobile device management (MDM) software, to train IT team for this risky work structure. No real big news on the BYOD area, the idea is very popular, useful, less capex as no need to buy devices to employees and keeping them operating; so bringing a simple mobile management. But as most people know that will bring the mix business and pleasure in mobile devices and this is not the best scenario for a security standpoint. At the same time this movement began with the own employees bring their devices to use during the work, something far away to be changed. This is already a reality in most workplaces and IT management will need to consider in most of their plans for the companies and business strategy. Welcome to mobile world.
